Pregnancy discrimination grievance letter

Use this letter to raise a formal grievance if you have been treated unfairly because you are pregnant, on maternity leave or have recently returned. Examples include being sidelined, losing duties or pay, being refused reasonable adjustments or being selected for redundancy.

Tips

Make sure your employer has written notice of your pregnancy, as some protections depend on the employer knowing.
Keep copies of emails, performance reviews and any change to your duties, pay or hours.
Time limits for discrimination claims can be very short, sometimes a few months, and may not pause while a grievance is ongoing, so get advice early.
Ask for meetings to be arranged around antenatal appointments, or held remotely if you are on leave.
