Privacy policy
The short version
- We never sell, rent or trade your personal data. We don't use advertising trackers.
- Your cycle tracker data stays on your device. It is never sent to us.
- Safety check-in details, locations and "Not just me" reports are encrypted. Identifiers in "Not just me" are stored only as one-way keyed hashes.
- You can download all your data or delete your account and everything in it from Account → Privacy at any time.
What we collect
- Account: your email, the display name and username you choose, and optional profile details (country, city, life stage, transitions, bio).
- What you post: forum posts, reviews, listings, salary entries and messages. Anonymous posts hide your name from other members; our moderators can still see which account posted, to keep the community safe.
- Safety check-ins: what you write, the time, and your location only if you switch on location sharing. Locations are deleted 7 days after a check-in ends.
- Trusted contacts: the names and emails you add. We email them only to confirm, and when you miss a check-in or press SOS.
- Technical: a session cookie to keep you logged in, and short-lived rate-limit records to stop spam. We don't use analytics cookies.
Who we share data with
Only the services needed to run TrustFem: our web host and our email provider (SparkPost), which delivers our emails. We only disclose data to authorities when we are legally required to, and we hold as little data as possible so there is little to disclose — your cycle data, for example, never reaches us at all.
Salary data
Salary entries are linked to your account so you can see and delete them, but are only ever shown as ranges once at least three women in the same role and country have shared. If you delete your account, your figures remain only as anonymous numbers.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can access, correct, export and delete your data. Use Account → Privacy, or email us. If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Children
TrustFem is for people aged 16 and over. Some guides are written for teenagers and their parents, but accounts are for 16+.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell members by email before it takes effect.
